Xander Berkeley was born on December 16th, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York, though he lived most of his life in New Jersey. He began acting as a child at a local experimental theater. He made his first big screen appearance in the movie "Mommie Dearest". By the mid-1980s roles were coming in fast.

Recently Xander has been giving an excellent performance as George Mason in the TV series "24". This role has gotten him critically acclaimed, though in the future he would like to take up directing.

He's also an accomplished painter and sculptor.

Xander married "24" co-star Sarah Clarke on September 7th, 2002. They had their first baby girl, Olwyn Harper, born September 23rd, 2006.
