Quotes:
MARY ANN FARMER: You look surprised.
DETECTIVE CHARLIE CREWS: No. No, no, I... um... No. I guess I
just, I expected...
MARY ANN FARMER: Someone older.
DETECTIVE CHARLIE CREWS: Maybe.
MARY ANN FARMER: Careful of having expectations, Detective, they
only lead to disappointment.
DETECTIVE CHARLIE CREWS: Where did you hear that?
MARY ANN FARMER: That one I didn't hear, that one I had to learn.
MARY ANN FARMER: Is it ok to go inside? I'm not gonna disturb the
evidence?
MARY ANN FARMER: This is my first store.
DETECTIVE CHARLIE CREWS: Your first? How many do you have?
MARY ANN FARMER: Six. But this is my first.
DETECTIVE CHARLIE CREWS: Mary Ann, we have surveillance tape from
your camera before it was destroyed. I'd like you to have a look
at it.
MARY ANN FARMER: Of course. Should I come down to the station?
DETECTIVE CHARLIE CREWS: No. Actually, I have it here [produces
palm viewer].
MARY ANN FARMER: What, in that? Wow, that's like...
DETECTIVE CHARLIE CREWS: Living in the future?
MARY ANN FARMER: Exactly. Living in the future...
DETECTIVE CHARLIE CREWS: You do, you know one of the boys, don't
you?
MARY ANN FARMER: They're wearing masks...
DETECTIVE CHARLIE CREWS: But you can see their eyes.
MARY ANN FARMER: That one... in the middle. The one who shot the
camera. I, I know him.
DETECTIVE CHARLIE CREWS: Do you know his name?
MARY ANN FARMER: Farmer. Jeffrey Farmer.
DETECTIVE CHARLIE CREWS: Farmer? Is he your brother?
MARY ANN FARMER: No, Detective. Jeffrey... Jeffrey is my son.
MARY ANN FARMER: I moved here from Ohio when I was 15, pregnant
with Jeffrey. I found work in a gas station. I bought that gas
station. I bought another. Then I bought four more. Somewhere in
there, Jeffrey grew up. Somewhere in there, Jeffrey grew away
from me. It started in high school, his hatred of all the
immigrants, Persians.
MARY ANN FARMER: I know he did a terrible thing, but you will
bring him back, won't you?
MARY ANN FARMER: You're gonna kill my son, aren't you?
MARY ANN FARMER: He wasn't like the rest of the kids. He wasn't
like Jeffery and his friends. Amir wanted to be something, he
worked at it.
DETECTIVE CHARLIE CREWS: The kind of kid who could start out
pumping gas and end up owning six gas stations?
